Aphids feed on the sap with their sucking mouthparts from the leaves of plants.

The aphids produce honeydew. In addition, deformation of the leaves occur.

Aphids can transmit viruses. Presence of aphids is often report by the presence of white molts on leaves or growing points of the plant.

Aphis gossypii (cotton aphid )

characteristics: characteristics: rather small (0.9 to 1.8 mm) round aphid and highly variable in color from light yellow to almost black. But it always has black tapered spiracles, cauda is small, finger-like and lighter than the spiracles. The antennae are shorter than the body. They preferably stay under the leaves and young shoots

Myzus persicae (green peach aphid)

characteristics: characteristics: medium (1.2 to 2.5 mm), mobile, oval aphid. The  color varies from whitish green to darker green, or red. The spiracles are medium sized and light with a dark tip. The antennae are about as long as body.

natural enemies: Adalia bipunctata, Aphidius colemani, Aphidoletes aphidimyza and Chrysoperla carnea

Aulacorthum solani (glasshouse aphid)

characteristics: medium (1.8 to 3.0 mm) round-oval aphid. The color varies from pale yellow green (glossy) to brownish green (dull). The spiracles are quite long and thin, wider at the base with dark tip (with flange ). The antenna are longer then the body (1.3 to 1.5 x body length). Their legs are darker than the rest of the body

characteristics: medium (1.7 to 3.6 mm), very mobile, flushing or pear-shaped aphids usually green, sometimes yellow or pink, often shiny, striking red eyes. The antennae slightly longer than body (1.2 x body length).  They let themselves fallen when disturbed.  They are to be found in many plants species, especially in younger parts of the plant
